This mini-lecture is a continuation of the IPv4 Basic Subnettting mini-lecture. After performing a quick review of the basic concepts, the student is presented with a real world subnetting example. At the end of this mini-lecture, the student is able to calculate the network id, usable host IP range and broadcast address for each new network and assign them to a network topology.

    09:45 How can 01111111 be 127 ? I think it should be 123 (64+32+16+8+2+1)

    Why didn't you use a /30 address for the R1-R2 link? Is it correct? May I also use a /23 address for subnet 3 and subnet 1? ( 2^5 hosts > 30 > 15) Tank you :)

      You are perfectly correct. But the reason I did not use /30 or /23 is because the tutorial's objective is to first demonstrate fixed size subnet subnetting. Once fixed size subnetting is understood, then we move to VLSM which is what you are recommending. Good recommendation!
